ZooTampa’s ‘Creatures of the Night’ is a family-friendly Halloween party with dinosaurs

TAMPA, Fla. — You need to watch out for dinosaurs on the trails and clowns on the carousel.

Halloween is taking over ZooTampa at Lowry Park for “Creatures of the Night.” The family-fun event starting October 2 packs enough scares to keep older kids entertained.

“We’re that middle ground,” says the event’s creative guru Alex Crow. “Your whole family can come here, and there’s something for the little ones, the middle ones and the teens.”

There will be no gross gory stuff at ZooTampa’s spooky shindig.

In fact much of the design and art direction is downright beautiful. It is one of the best-looking events the park has hosted.

Crow promises many of the walk-thru haunted attractions “will up the scare factor.” That includes a super-creepy swamp village (watch out for that schoolhouse) and “dinos in the dark,” animatronic beasts roaring at you around every corner.

Tickets start at $24.95. Children 2 and under are free.

The zoo is urging guests to book reservations online, as many of the 11 available nights are filling up fast.

Children 12 and under can wear costumes. For more on “Creatures of the Night,” click here.
