Tropical storm watches issued for SE Florida, parts of panhandle

MIAMI – Tropical storm watches have been issued for parts of Florida as Tropical Depression Nineteen approaches Miami this weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for southeast Florida as Nineteen moves west-northwest, NHC says.

According to the 11 p.m. update, Nineteen is about 25 miles east-southeast of Miami and is packing 35 mph winds. Nineteen is also moving west-northwest at 8 mph.

WATCHES AND WARNINGS

Tropical Storm Watch:
* South of Jupiter Inlet to north of Ocean Reef

According to NHC, there is a 70 percent chance of formation in the next 48 hours and an 80 percent chance of formation through five days.

Here in the Tampa Bay area, most of the viewing area is under a Flood Watch this weekend.
