Tropical Depression Twenty forms over the central tropical Atlantic, NHC says

MIAMI — Tropical Depression Twenty has formed over the central tropical Atlantic, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

According to NHC’s 5 p.m. Saturday update, the system is 2,030 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands with winds of 35 mph. The system is also moving west-northwest at 9 mph.

Slow strengthening is expected over the next day and the depression is forecasted to become a tropical storm Sunday night, NHC said.
