State Passes 10,000 Florida Residents Coronavirus Deaths

STATEWIDE — Florida has reached another grim coronavirus milestone as the total of deaths for Florida residents has passed 10,000 people. 

According to the state’s Department of Health, Florida added 4,255 new cases to its official total Thursday, along with 117 deaths and 450 new hospitalizations.

What You Need To Know

With the new reported deaths, Florida’s coronavirus death toll among residents is now at 10,049. Add in non-Florida residents that died in Florida and the total number statewide deaths is 10,186.

Total cases of coronavirus in the state now stand at 588,602 while the overall positivity rate among tests is at 13.61 percent.

In Central Florida, 844 new cases were announced with 17 deaths.

In the Tampa Bay area,   692 cases were reported with an additional 19 deaths.

Hillsborough 207 cases, 4 deaths

Polk 164, 7 

Pinellas 102, 5

Manatee 71, 0

Pasco 54, 0

Hernando 46, 2

Citrus 48, 1

The latest county-by-county report is available on the Florida Dept. of Health website.

The number of new cases announced by the Florida Department of Health may not reflect what happened in the prior 24 hours, often because of testing backlog.
