Popular haunted attraction “Scream-A-Geddon” opens this weekend with safety precautions

DADE CITY, Fla. — “Scream-A-Geddon” in Dade City draws in thousands of visitors every season, but this year they will only be operating at 50 percent capacity.

All visitors and staff will get a temperature check and will have to wear a mask.

Also, actors won’t be grabbing or touching guests this year.

Despite the changes, all of their indoor haunted houses will be in operation including a new asylum haunted house.

Marketing director Winston McDaniel says the goal is to keep everyone safe but not take away from the experience.

“Our actors have all been given themed masks. So you won’t have clowns wearing surgical masks, you’ll have clowns wearing clown masks. We’ve tried to keep it all ‘on brand’ so you’re not taken out of the experience by a mask, but everyone is being kept safe,” said McDaniel.

The park says they’ve hired additional staff to constantly clean and disinfect surfaces throughout the night.

Right now, Scream-A-Geddon is open weekend nights, and starting in October they’re open every night until November 1st.

They are also encouraging all guests to order tickets online.
