Phillip A. Thomas II, 24, was denied bond Monday and has a pretrial detention hearing set for August 20.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said that Thomas went inside a home along Pine Hammock Boulevard in Lutz early Sunday.
According to investigators, he cut a hole in the patio screen and waited for hours before entering the home.
Once he went inside, the alarm was activated, which alerted the homeowner who left and called 911.
Deputies say they found Thomas inside the home with a knife, plastic zip ties, duct tape and mace.

Property records state that the homeowner is Daria Berenato, who works for WWE under the name Sonya Deville.
“It was scary, but I guess it was scarier when we got to know what happened,” said neighbor Audrey Fonseca, who lives just a few houses away.
Deville is also on a reality TV series called Total Divas.
“Our deputies are unveiling the suspect’s disturbing obsession with this homeowner who he had never met, but stalked on social media for years,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister.
Thomas faces charges of aggravated stalking and attempted armed kidnapping, among other charges.
