HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — For the 15th year in a row, the Hillsborough County School District is launching its Pasos al Futuro program — in an all-new virtual format.
Pasos al Futuro is a crash course on college readiness done in Spanish.
Parent Juliette Garcia went to her first course two years ago where she learned about the IB program. Her son, Mathew, now a sophomore, is now enrolled in the program at Hillsborough High School.
“I really like psychology, I’m taking AP psychology this year. So like I’m really interested in that,” he said.
“It’s very important that you keep going to find new information because you can find information about scholarships or, for example, in this case, about magnet schools. All is free, so it’s easy to find that information,” Juliette Garcia said.
It is the first in a four-part series of online videos launched October 1.
Garcia says she plans on doing the virtual sessions again this year, continuing to help give her son a path to a brighter future.
“So I think that all the parents, we have to look and search for our children’s future,” she said.
The videos will be launched on the district’s Youtube channel every week.
