HERO: A Tech Guy Using His Gifts For Good

TAMPA, Fla. — William Santiago is a guy usually looking for trouble.

Trouble with computers, that is.

If a computer is on its last legs, Santiago is the guy you want to take it to.

What You Need To Know

“I’ve always enjoy being able to find out what the problem (is),” Santiago said. “Of what’s wrong with a computer and try to find different solutions to solve that problem.”

An IT Director by trade, Santiago volunteers his time and talents, and many hours, to an organization called Bikerscap.

Bikerscap is an acronym for “Building Intellect Knowledge Education Resources Schooling with a Computer Acquisition Program.”

The charity focuses on getting old computers refurbished and out to students or children who have no access to a computer.

The organization was founded by previous Bay News 9 Everyday Hero Greg Reaster, who began refurbishment old computers 20 years ago.

A community supported non-profit with volunteers from the biker community and others, over 2,700 computers have been donated in Hillsborough County and some in Pasco.

“If we can connect some equipment for kids who would appreciate it and use it for good and to learn, I want to be able to help do that,”Santiago said.

The need for financial support and well as volunteers and old computers is constant.

As is Will’s volunteer spirit and talent.

“It’s some of God’s gifts,” he said. He’s given me the ability to see that technology and see how to fix it.”
