“It’s impossible to think it’s not going to happen again. There’s always a next victim. There will continue to be victims until we have change,” said Ruth Beltran.

Ruth Beltran is an organizer with ANSWER Suncoast, a national organization fighting racism. She is also an organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation. Members with The Leaders Rights Organization also participated in the rally.

Beltran wants people to take their outrage and turn it into motivation.

“I’m motivated by the fact I am a Black woman. I have a Black son. I have Black friends,” said Beltran.

“I want people to use this outrage as motivation to continue to fight to remember that we don’t need to live in a society where there are a few making decisions for everyone else. We are the people. We have power,” she added.

Kiera Forlenca brought her 10-year-old daughter to the rally. She said she wants to teach her daughter to know her voice is powerful.

“I think it’s important to teach our young children and to stand up for what they believe in to continue to fight for justice and equality for everyone,” she said.

A Kentucky grand jury indicted one of three officers involved in the shooting that killed Breonna Taylor.

The officer charged is accused of firing without a line of sight and endangering Taylor’s neighbors.

The grand jury found the other officers used their weapons justifiably after Taylor’s boyfriend fired at police.

Officers were serving a search warrant at Taylor’s home in March.
