Depression in New Port Richey expands, shutting down parts of Little Rd.

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A depression in Pasco County continues to expand, forcing crews to close a portion of Little Road in New Port Richey.ABC Action News has learned, the hole grew six feet in about four hours Friday, creeping closer to the busy intersection of Little Road at Spring Haven Boulevard.This after emergency management officials reported the depression was stable on Thursday.

Reported stable Thursday night, I’m told the hole grew six feet in four hours today. @abcactionnews pic.twitter.com/MWyyFSwIwY— Ryan Smith (@RyanReports) October 9, 2020 The outside lane of Little Road has been closed for about 120 yards, said Emergency Management Director Andrew Fasso.Due to the shift in movement on Friday, Pasco County has hired its own engineering firm, Intertek PSI, to investigate the hole.The depression is primarily opening on private property belonging to a condominium association and Trinity Varsity Club, a sports bar that closed temporarily due to conditions.Both private groups hired engineering firms to assess and develop a strategy to make a fix.
