Clearwater Marine Aquarium unveils $80 million expansion

Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s $80 million expansion project is complete, and they’re celebrating with a big unveiling presentation Friday morning.Clearwater Marine Aquarium CEO David Yates said this is “huge.”The aquarium now has five times more space for guests, who can now a bigger retail and food court area above a dolphin viewing area. Before the expansion, the beached whales and dolphins found on local beaches were sent to Sarasota or Orlando.”When they’re sick you want to get them to the right facility as soon as you can. Now we can with this space,” said Yates. “We won’t have to turn any away.” In addition to the expansion at the aquarium, there are two Olympic size pools at Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs.
