MIAMI — The National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued a special outlook on Thursday morning about a low-pressure system over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.
NHC says there is a 90% chance the system develops into a tropical depression or storm in the next 48 hours. The center is predicting formation later in the day on Thursday.
According to the NHC, an Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft will investigate the disturbance on Thursday afternoon.
If the storm develops, it would become Tropical Storm Wilfred — the last name left in the 2020 storm names list.
